The Brampton courthouse is the A. Grenville and William Davis Courthouse on Hurontario Street. Criminal, youth criminal, family and civil matters for all of Peel Region are heard there. Court offices open Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

What Are the Brampton Courthouse Hours?

Court offices are open Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.. Counter service is narrower: Monday to Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m..

Those are building hours, not your hearing time. The time on your undertaking, summons or release order is the one that governs, and courts routinely start dealing with the list before every matter on it is called. Arriving well before the time on your paperwork gives you room to find the courtroom, clear security and speak to duty counsel or your lawyer first.

French-language services are available at this location, over the phone and at the counter.

How Do You Attend Brampton Court by Zoom?

The Ontario Court of Justice uses Zoom for remote appearances, and publishes a meeting ID and passcode for each courtroom on its own Brampton page. Use that page on the day of your appearance.

Each courtroom has its own meeting ID and passcode, and they are changed from time to time. Take them from the Ontario Court of Justice page for Brampton on the morning of your appearance rather than from any third-party site.

If you cannot join by video, the court publishes dial-in numbers for Brampton: 647-374-4685 or 1-855-703-8985. You still need the meeting ID and passcode for your courtroom.

Why this page does not list the meeting IDs. Passcodes are changed from time to time. A number copied here could be wrong on the morning you need it, and a missed appearance can lead to a warrant — so the live source is linked instead.

Who Can You Contact at the Brampton Courthouse?

Court staff can confirm dates, courtrooms and filings but cannot give legal advice. Duty counsel can give free summary advice at the courthouse. The Crown prosecutes the case and is not neutral.

What Happens at a First Appearance?

A first appearance is an administrative step, not a trial. No evidence is heard and no finding of guilt is made. The court confirms you have your disclosure, asks whether you have a lawyer, and sets the next date.

You are not expected to explain yourself or to plead on a first appearance, and doing either without advice can be costly. If you do not yet have a lawyer, you can ask the court for time to get one — that request is routine and is normally granted.

  • Bring your release paperwork, any disclosure you have received, and photo identification.
  • Allow time for security screening before your listed time.
  • Dress as you would for a job interview; there is no formal dress code, but courtroom decorum applies.
  • Turn your phone off, not to silent, once you are inside the courtroom.
  • If you have a lawyer, confirm in advance whether they will appear for you and whether you need to attend as well.

Conditions in a release order stay in force until a court changes them. If a condition is causing a genuine problem — a residence term, a no-contact term, a curfew that conflicts with work — that is a reason to get advice rather than a reason to breach it.
